Recently Ford Australia launched the biggest catch of 2011, the all-new Ranger, which represents Australia’s strong involvement in the next major development of the company’s One Ford strategy.

This Ute has a powerful presence and promises Australian fishermen a more can-do capability in their search for the one that got away.

To celebrate the launch of Ranger, Ford has come up with a list of top insights as to why the new Ranger will be a fisherman’s first mate:

· Heavy-duty payload with a light touch – Taking the boat on the road has never been easier with its impressive towing capacity, payload (1,500 kg) and pick-up box volume which supersede the maximum towing capacity of the current Ranger of three tonnes (3,000 kg)

· More power. Even more fuel economy – Ford’s engineers keep pushing engine design forward to create fuel economy without compromising power. To help reduce the Ranger’s costs, especially at the fuel pump, a wide range of design features were optimised to improve fuel efficiency. Using the same leading-edge simulation technology as Formula One teams, aerodynamicists performed more than 1000 full-vehicle aerodynamic simulations to perfect the shape of the vehicle meaning you can drive the long haul to your secret fishing spot with more fuel in your tank

· Built for safety - Features like an optional Rear View Camera let you clearly see what, or who’s behind you. If a trailer begins to sway, brakes are selectively applied to slow down the truck-and-trailer combination. To ensure the Ranger maintains a stable ride when carrying full loads of cargo, Adaptive Load Control determines the payload and applies the necessary measures to maintain a straight and level ride

· A versatile Ute with all the creature comforts for work and play- The Ranger doesn’t sacrifice on the fun stuff meaning it’s a still a great Ute for the days you can’t get out on the water with power adjustable seats and a spacious cabin
