As I write it’s a scorcher of a day in the Hunter region but the water still needs to warm further to fire up the new season properly.

Crazy times draw near

It’s that crazy time of year again, when everything seems to be a bit rushed and all we really want to do is kick back with a line in the water. With a bit of luck, the horrendous weather we’ve endured through much of the year will give us a reprieve over the coming month and into the holiday period.

Great times ahead

The current is starting to trickle from the north and from now until the end of March this area lights up with travelling schools of everything you either want to catch and release or have on a plate. If you can’t catch fish from now on, give up.

Well-earned rewards

Good times are ahead for all forms of fishing along this part of the coast, and don’t we deserve it after such a tough few months of bad weather and slow fishing.

Things shift up a gear

After a dismal report last month, I’m pleased to say the fishing around here has shifted up a gear.

Estuaries begin to warm

Now that we have more hours of daylight, we can get out on the water after work a bit more often and remain warmer and more comfortable. Not that we’ve completely shaken off some of those cooler days, and the ocean water temperature will remain quite cold for another month or two yet.
