Hang on to your hats, it’s traditionally the month for strong westerlies. The low-pressure systems crossing Bass Strait tend to travel at higher latitudes at this time of year, bringing clearer days with a few near-gales thrown into the mix.

Bread and butter

The fishing starts to get a little tougher now with most of the warm-water species heading north, so we have to lower our sights a bit and start targeting the bread-and-butter fish. Gone are the days when you just throw a lure out the back of the boat, or of the rocks or beach and hope something grabs it.

Shoalhaven jewies

The Shoalhaven River has fished better than usual over Summer and with the cool months upon us we should see good numbers of jewfish move in to the estuary.
