Pre fish ban Classic and ABT GF

Just wondering if someone from ABT could confirm when the pre fish ban kicks in for the Classic GF and the ABT GF. Cheers

Re: Derwent Qualifier

Thanks Penstock. Here is some quotes from the relevant Govt agencies. My take on this is that you need a license to fish above Dogshear Pt. Normally a closed season would apply above DogShear Pt commencing 28/4/2013 however, The Derwent is open all year below Bridgewater Bridge. One line per angler....

Derwent Qualifier

Not sure if I'm reading the regulations correctly, as I haven't been to Tasmania for a couple of years, but it appears to me that the upper boundary on the Derwent this year might be Dogshear Pt. This is due to the Derwent R being a brown trout fishery and the season closing 28/4/2013. Does anyone k...

Virgin Aust baggage warning

Thought that I would get it out there that Virgin Aust have changed their baggage allowances. Flying back from Sydney after the lake Mac ABT I was told that I would have to pay an additional $40 for my rods as they constituted a second piece of luggage and my fare regulations said an allowance of on...

Thats pretty good Steve, I guess bigger rig equals more money back.

Anything helps and it might just be enough to tip me over.

Re: FINALLY - some assistance for getting boats to/from TAS

The cost was the main reason that I didn't go this year. For example, its possible for me to drive to Mallacoota from Adelaide 3 times for three events at a similar cost. This, coupled with my GF aspirations and the fact that there was only one ABT event in Tas. made the decision not to go quite log...

Re: FINALLY - some assistance for getting boats to/from TAS

That trip was a year ago and I think round trip was about $1200, so $600 one way. That was for a total vehicle and trailer length of 11.5 metres but included a discount because I am in the Motor Home Assoc of Aust. (disc was around 10 or 15%)

Quoted this year about $1400 round trip.

Derwent ABT spot?

just made a few enquiries and found that I might have time for the trip down to the Apple Isle. Towing my boat down the costs are $1600! Any would be non-boater (or boater) wants to contribute something towards the cost and we might be able to make a deal in return for guaranteed entry. Sorry for be...

Re: ABT BREAM 2012

I can see exactly where the ABT thinking is coming from on this one. If the numbers aren’t there for the events then something has to give. Either a new format, better promotion, innovative ideas, angler rewards, rule changes, or if all else fails reduce the number of events. While I’m not totally s...

Re: $200 fee for 2011

I follow what Nick is saying and admit that a $400 entry fee into a Super Series and the corresponding payout will focus my attention more closely on getting a decent finish. The increased fees is not the approach that I would take, however its up to the ABT to choose how they conduct business. It i...

Re: Marina Fishing Rules Debate

I've been wrong on rules before, but I'll stick my head up again. My understanding is that a no go or no fishing zone not only means that your boat has to be out side the area but it ALSO means no fishing. That is you are not allowed to cast into a NO FISHING ZONE. Anyone who does is in breach of th...

I'm not 100% sure but I think that the fork length was chosen due to tails sometimes becoming frayed at the edges.

Re: New Measuring System for BREAM Events

I haven't fished the Tweed so I can't comment on that system, looking forward to it this July. I feel that its better to use fork length, for boaters and non-boaters. Consistency is the key, I feel. If you have a rule for the Tweed then it should be the rule right across the country, and as the rest...

Simon, I think that diverting the discussion on the basis that Mango has parra phrased your comments and used the words "major part of financial structure" isn't help full. [/quote] Seems to me that if you don't have money to pay the bills or run tournaments, that would be pretty "major" in my opini...

Re: The closed mouth question??

We could learn something from the US on this one. At the SABT we tried a few tournaments where we said that we were imposing a penalty of minus 400grams for every undersized fish that the guys attempted to get past the weighmaster. If the competitor nominated the fish as being "close" then there was...
