Hey guys. I dont know too much about this casting stuff, can get 200m + from my old South African surf rod; but I have watched an absolute shed full of casting clips....and this gentleman in my humble view has the smoothest, most relaxed, casual, fluid casting style I've ever seen. Just my 2 bobs worth...

Hello all. Just broke my third South African rod (wont mention any names) they replaced the tips on the first two but will not do replacement on the latest breakage without me sending the rod back to S.A. where it will then be sent back to the blank manufacturer to see if a warranty claim can be mad...

Hello blue 13
I've had the 30 for over a month now and am very happy with it. Got 600 yds of braid and 250m of platypus super 100 on top (30 lbs) use it most days and have stripped it down three times to see how the insides are coping, all seems well.

hey black beard.
525 is a great little casting reel, but for me thats about it. i find the retrieve too slow (small spool) to attract many of our high speed pelajics when throwing a lure. secondly it does not hold enough line, even using braid backing.
cheers.

anyone had any experience with these reels? i'm looking to use one as a surf casting reel. seems like a good cheaper alternative to a trinidad 20. as much as i like my 525 supermag extra. its just not suited to fishing for inedibles.

thats just a variation of the "off the ground" cast, the constant in all good casting.

breakaway imps

i just bought 100 breakaway imps from england. tested them in the pool with some eva foam acting as a bait, and then in the surf on tuesday night. they seem to work really well.

hi jeremy
the mag xtra has the spare bearings and magnets; the supermag xtra has them fitted as standard. i'll drop the line level and oil as suggested. thanks for the advice.

i'll be using it on an assassin beachmaster (south african) with 20lb platypus super 100 line. i have been using the same set up but with a sl30sh to cast 125gm javelin lasers. been getting 150m plus, hopefully the 525 will help get it out a bit further.

anyone out there use braid on an over-head reel? can anyone tell me the pro's and cons of using braid on an over-head with a mono leader.
thanks in advance.
