YES I DO LOVE FLATHEAD

Post by Dusky_Chaser » Mon Dec 27, 2010 7:46 pm

Hi guys .....newbie to the site.
I am guessing that this is mainly a qld site....I live in Victoria but fish all over the place.
I love many kinds of fishing but for some reason have a passion for what many others consider bycatch.....the humble Dusky.
I started chasing them about 11 years ago and it took about 5 years before I got my first 5kg fish....these days despite the 6 hours drive to get to some decent grounds I have been getting them much more often.......heres a few from the last 2 trips
Hope you enjoy the pics and look forward to being a part of the site.

all on plastics mate....Poddys have acounted for some nice fish in the years past but you cant beat the placcys...more fun to use and mostly result in shallow hook ups, meaning so far 100% release on the big girls.

have to agree with the plastics being more fun. do you fish into the edges or into the middle of the lake. We fish the lakes enterance fishing comp last week and struggled to get anything above 60cm.

hay, been trying to pm you, but dosent seem to work?. the comp has been going for 2 years now and is for flathead only with a prize for bream as well. cost $25 to enter i think and you can fish the the area around lakes enterance and also lake tyres.

Holy crap they are bloody big flatties. I would love to catch one that size , what size line and leader do you use?
soft plastics and lures only (no bait required)
