Curtain Artificial

Post by jaylay » Tue Jun 29, 2010 7:59 am

Went out yesterday later than I would have liked and arrived at Curtain around 9 am. We had planned to fish Shallow Tempest but conditions were not perfect. We tried gathering some live bait at the beacons but only managed a yakka and some whiptail.
Anchored up at Curtain and was met with a roaring current that made it hard to fish plastics. Decided to throw a bait over and was met with undersized snapper on each drop. One of the little fellows was hit on the way back to the boat by one of the resident unstoppables, and with line peeling off it finally parted at the hook after a short fight. It was funny because our yakka was untouched for the trip.
Managed a few trevally but it was quite disappointing. The conditions improved through the day and I wished had chanced the tempest trip. Maybe next time.

m8 u can get some big stuff there . chunk line your water and drift out a good bait and hold on. cobia tuna mac's,blue fin ,yellow fin, snapper u name it its all there in the current line . use 15 to 20 pound . use a float for your ancher rope cause you may need a quick release to go chase those line busters.
