Ouch! You never know when there's something unseen to bring you unstuck. Lucky they were wearing all of their safety gear.

Thats the only down side I can see to a hydrolic jack plate. Only the hydrolic piston holds the entire motors weight and thrust. I wonder if a manual jack plate with the six lock down nuts for the motor plate would have changed the outcome. It my have torn a manual one off the transom. Who knows ?
What ever they hit it must have been hit hard to do that. I feel sorry for the poor buggers. That would be the last thing to expect having a 235kg motor in your lap.

I read on a forum in the US that Willie unfortunately lost his leg from the accident.
