Kayak rules

Post by chrisfish » Sun Feb 24, 2013 2:22 pm

Was just reading the kayak rules and under "what is a kayak" it states that no tandem kayaks allowed.
Does this include all multi seat kayaks ? I mean they are all kayaks but is it that you are only allowed to enter in a single seat kayak?
Looking for an answer to soothe my rainy day curiosity.
Chris

I think you will find that you can't fish 2 people in a tandem.

guys

the rules are:

WHAT IS A KAYAK?
• Sit on and sit-in kayaks are allowed. Self draining kayaks are compulsory for ocean rounds.
• No combustion, sail or electric propulsion allowed.
• Canoes are not allowed.
• Outriggers are allowed.
Tandem kayaks not allowed.

This are the rules we are under for all of 2013.

Regards

So I have an Extreme Outlaw which is sold as a tandem (has 2 padling positions). Does that mean that I can't fish the comps?

Based on the current rules (2013) the kayak is a tandem and tandems are not allowed. We will review this at the end of the season when changes are looked at. If your keen to fish a round or two, I suggest you borrow a kayak which should be easy to do. Hope this helps.
