Hi Guys,

Scotty,

The info says 21 to 23rd, is it actually a 3 day comp? Or is the 21st a pre fish?

Qld Open is a three-day event.

If it blows too hard, boats will be limited to the Brisbane River.

If I remember correctly it blew about 25+ knots with 1m waves last year and the bay was open . Just wondering how hard it has to blow to shut the bay down ?

Yes - I am being a smart arse ( (I really don't care how big or windy it is , I'd still go out in it .) last year as I remember it , was something like Lt. Dan in "forest Gump" when they are in the storm on the trawler).

ABT usually makes its decision on BOM forecast for Moreton Bay (there's usually one at about 4am each morning).

If the forecast is 15-20kn or less, the bay will be open. If it's 20-25 or more, the bay will be closed. This is generally 5kn less than a Strong Wind Warning.

In reality, sometimes a 20-25knot forecast can end up calm (Bribie 2012), or a 15-20knot forecast can end up gale force (Hawkesbury 2011).

This will be how the TD makes their decisions for the Queensland open, any Gold Coast ABTs and, indeed, the ABT Grand Final at Bribie this November.

Cheers,
