Information on a Shimano TLD5

Post by the missus » Sat Sep 11, 2010 11:52 pm

Can anyone give me a realistic guide to how much a Shimano TDL5 reel is worth these days? It is in excellent condition with minor usage wear and has not been used very often. I am looking at two options of either selling it or putting it away in storage again. Thanks.

It depends on where you are selling it. The TLD 5 generates alot of overseas interest where a good condition reel can sell for $300. I don't see them selling for too much in Australia since Shimano now have the baby Tynos lever drag reels.
Rather than selling them through the forums, try putting it on ebay with a reserve and see how you go. Make sure you put in lots of pictures. The ones where the writing is clearly visible sell to collectors.
Good luck
