Wyaralong Dam has just been completed and was handed over to Seqwater on the 1st of July. The dam is situated on the Beaudesert - Boonah Road approximately 15.6 km from Beaudesert and is located on Treviot Brook, a tributary of the Logan River and is about 51 km from Brisbane.

Permits updated..
LAFMA 's permit for fish stocking of the Logan and Albert river systems has been extended to include Wyaralong Dam. It is, with appropriate approvals, our intention to stock the dam with Mary River Cod and Australian Bass and Saratoga, the majority being Mary River Cod. Thus creating a cod fishery that will serve the south east corner and help to sustain the Mary River Cod and hopefully restrict the spread of Noxious Species including Carp.

Boating Access
As from the 1st of July 2011 the dam will be open to Canoes as well as Boats with electric motors, no petrol motors will allowed to be used on the dam, but can stay on your boat if a permeant fixture. It is recommended by SEQwater that where possible fuel tanks should be removed or in the case of on board fuel tanks, fuel lines should disconnected.
There is a boat ramp at the Eastern Trailhead near the dam wall and at the top end of the dam known as the Western Trailhead there is no boat ramp at the moment, but there is a canoe launching area.

Recreation Fishing Facilities
The area around the dam has been called Mt Joyce Escape Recreation Park. This park is heavy structured around mountain bike and horse use but hopefully the recreation fishing facilities, largely forgotten, will gain a larger share, as our impact of stocking the dam becomes more active and the consultation process moves forward!

Check out SEQWATER web site for further information. Mt Joyce Escape Recreation Park.
