Hinze Convention

Post by callum » Thu Sep 20, 2012 8:05 pm

Just spoke to caretaker at Logcabin.
-No room for all the boats and anglers
-Not enough power supplies for battery charging. Bring a generator? $%#@ that.
-NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED ON SITE! Its run by a church group. $%#@ that also.
I'm paying $220 to stay at a mates house. Worth it?
See you all there!

There was a change in management and the attitude went from 'accommodating' to 'bugger off' - see other post.

Had an ABT Electric Convention pre-fish at Hinze yesterday with about another 15 boats/kayaks. The car park was chocker block even with that amount of anglers, so we'll all need to be nice to each other next weekend to squeeze all the extra cars/trailers in. Throw in a few spectators & the general public & things will be tight. There's only 10 designated car/trailer parking spots.

I can see a need for someone to take control of this issue, especially if we start to spill out onto the Nerang-Murwillumbah Road. Are the GCCC or QPS at all concerned?

Anyway....back to the pre-fish. Got out about 07:30 & fished to 11:00 - Found the bass starting to school up in a few spots but a bit difficult to get a bite. Had more success fishing tight to the edges with spinnerbaits & would imagine they'd also bite on the surface early with the amount of cicadas & dragon-flies buzzing about.

Any of you other pre-fishers got any "who shares, wins" tips?

Cheers,
Doddsy

The eastern ramp has a bit more room for parking but I'm easy either way we go, sounds like fish are being found everywhere but a bit tight lipped and the edges producing better size fish but far and few between.

It's would be a lot safer lining up on the eastern, once we fill up the Car park we will spill out onto the side street not a main road like on the western side.

I believe we maybe getting access to the point via the locked gate for parking. I guess we will find out on Friday...

It would be a bit late now to change to the Eastern arm given most of the pre fishing has been done at the western arm...

Cheers Mark P.

Mark P is correct we have the key to a spill over car park at the western ramp, so all will be AOK.

Good work Simon, that'll give us more room. It might be possible to do the weigh-ins down on the point too, leaving the boat ramp area clear for pulling craft out.

Now let's all maintain the usual boat ramp etiquette shown at the Electrics to make it a quick & easy in/out!

Cheers,
Doddsy
