BARRA Tour Events 2011- Please Read It

Post by Simon Goldsmith » Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:53 pm

Well what a start to the year, floods, cyclones, and very little barra fishing from what many of us are hearing. Taking into consideration weather, dam levels, patronage we've revised the BARRA calendar for the year and drafted up something that we believe is better suited to the year.

The Daiwa BARRA Tour to once again be comprised of five events (run from 5th Nov to 20th Nov, or there abouts), visiting Teemburra, Faust, Awoonga X 2, and Monduran. Events will largely be structured as 2010 (with a few changes obviously), one of the Awoonga rounds will be boater/non-boater though. With the event run shared weight and AOY points on offer.

Matt Fraser will be running his BARRA Trophy events in the second half of the year, he'll release an updated calendar soon I'm sure. He's canceling his May scheduled event.

This then brings us to our BARRA Pro round scheduled for Monduran in March. We can go either way on this, so i guess what we're looking for is a show of hands on who's keen to fish the event and for it go ahead. If interest in the boater/nonboater format to date is anything to go by i don't think there will be too many. Entries forms are being made up and will be available ASAP if we get enough interest for the event.

So here's your chance let us know.

We'll have the calendar for the Daiwa BARRA Tour available soon.

Further to Simon's post, there will be just one Barra Trophy in 2011. It will be held on the weekend of the 8th/9th October - at either Mondy or Awoonga, location to be confirmed in August, and entry forms and further details released then.

It will be four weeks out from the ABT tour, and should be a great warm-up event, as always it will be a great social and friendly event.

Cheers,

Matt

Count us in for the March Monduran Pro round (Pete & Kyle Hansen) but only if it is NOT boater/non-boater...

Guys we've decided not to run the event.

Reason being is that we're just about to go through some staffing changes at ABT and when combined with the before mentioned factors results in the event being difficult to run. These issues along with the limited level of patronage expected with the boater/non-boater format make it unfeasible to run the event.

This will give us all plenty of time to get set for the second half of the year, when hopefully the rain has eased and the barra start biting again.

Makes a hell of a lot of sense to me. Great work guys in a difficult period.
The dams WILL fire, its getting very close to that now.
The BARRA tour will be big again this year with that format, and I know I'll be looking forward to the BNB round at Awoonga as well.
Bring it on.
Cheers
