RIP Ian Black

Post by Steve Morgan » Mon Nov 23, 2009 9:01 am

Bassers,

Sad news. After a long fight with cancer, Blackie passed away this morning.

An ABT supporter since 2001, his member #138 will now hold a special significance for all his mates.

I think I speak for all bassers when I say that he'll be missed. I hope you've moved on to better place, Blackie, where the last two casts in every session get you a pair of 50s.

Our sympathies to his family.

Blackie was a top bloke and a true gentleman of the sport!
he was one of the ABT original bass blokes was always willing to help anyone at anytime in the spirit of the scene.

I remember fishing and socialising with Blackie back in my days at Mullet Gut Marine in Toowoomba, and he was the funniest bugger I ever met fishing!!!

My condolances go out to Ian's family, and all his mates during this time of grief.

Regards Steve Bechly

Just seen this tonight (Fri).
So very sad that someone like Blacky gets his number called so soon.
Me and Mark Pertot knew Blacky for the whole time he was on the Bass trip. What a top lad he was.

Fish in peace Blacky

I would also like to offer my sincere condolences to Blackies family as well.
As has been stated above a great all round guy and we had many chats on the water.
