More Aussies in the USA

Craig Simmons is over there as his Shootout win prize in the BASS Pro GF at Glenbawn last year. Mike Connolly's there ATM, too.

Check out the non-boater(AAA) division of the Clear Lake tournament. The boys did well - and both weighed fish over 7lb!

Cheers,

How do they distribute the prize money Steve?

First place got $4800.00 yet third got $9000.00. Second gets $1000.00 but Thirteenth picks up $1650.00.

I don't get it????

Bill,

There's the standard payback (derived from the entry fee) and then there's options.

Options are taken at Registration - in cash - and they're paid back at 100%.

It's $100 USD for Big Stringer and $50 USD for Big Bass. You don't to win the event to win the options. It's a side pool that split up between Options buyers. I've seen people midfield with Big Bass win as much as a podium finish!

I'd like to introduce it here, but most find the concept too difficult and $100 extra too much.

Steve,

Those options sound a bit like a calcutta for a horse race. I agree we will probably whinge about the cost (unless we win) but I'm sure a nation of punters like us can get our mind around it. Is there scope to try it at an electric round for Big Bass. Maybe $10-$20 if you want to be in it. Of course that would mean us Electric boys would lose our amateur status. Good to see the Aussies doing well in the US.
Cheers,
Doddsy

My mate Tim aka Matchangler used to fish those carp contests in the UK, and he was telling me about the same sort of setup. Along the lines of having a bit of a side bet between all those interested, one guy holds the pool of cash and its divvied up 60, 30, 10 at the end of the comp. Though in this case the organisers had nothing to do with it, it was totally run by the anglers.

Options

Steve the options idea sounds great. Would be good to give it a trial.
It would add a lot more interest during an event.
Who would hold the money though? Simon ???

And I'll double it at the Casino before I hand it over to the lucky winner.
