2012 Tournament Angler Guide

Postby Simon Goldsmith » Thu May 19, 2011 9:56 am

ABTers,

I'm starting work on the next year's Tournament Angler Guide and thought I'd put it to our readers and anglers for some suggestions and ideas on what they'd like to see or not see in next year's issue.

So here's your chance, hit me with your ideas.

More on technique, there is no other material out there that is more informative that what I have read in the tag.
The stats are good, perhaps the record page could be cut/cut down but, that's jmho.
Perhaps run a comp for a average Joe to win a day or two fishing with their favorite breamer and then write of their experience and what they have learned, to earn the spot one has to submit an aticale most impressive wins.
Is there are catch mag this year?

more of the people coming up through the ranks . We know who is all ready there and who is looked after by the shops and others, there are some very good anglers out there that could do with a helping hand.
and thats my two cents worth.

Maybe you could do an article profiling some of the successful female anglers on the various Bream, Bass, and Barra circuts, could encourage some more girls to take it up. I recon some of the females competing now are real ground brakers and probably derserve more kudos than they get now.
Cheers

I wouldnt mind seeing something about how some of the top ranked anglers go about prefishing? Not just the official prefish day but prior to the prefish ban as well.

maybe one on one interviews with the AOY boaters and non boaters in the bream ,bass and barra??? asking briefly the same questions to each angler on how they prepare, plan , compete and recover from the years events?

maybe some interviews with first timers and there thoughts and first experiences??

Hi Simon,
Great to see ABT looking for new ideas.
An article from a continually successful non boater on their approach to fishing with the pro's and how to get the most from your day on the water, there are a few that regularly show up their boaters?
Cheers Dale.

I think another article that i would like to be repeated was an article out lining (think it was) Tim Morgan's day on the water a few years ago in a comp. it had minute to minute details of size of fish he caught, colours of lures and structure he was fishing all the while in a timeline structure. if this could include the chosen anglers prefish it would make for an interesting read IMO

cheers

Hi Simon,

I think a list of the Big Bream winners in order of the anglers who have won the most and articles from those anglers showing how Big Bream are targeted in tournament situations.

some ideas would include

- some maps and description of some of the dams with some of the spots describing where some of the past comp winning bass/barra have been caught. also what techniques have worked well at that dam.

- also some stuff regarding bass electric stuff like different boat layouts / livewells etc and possible motor/battery combos. budget boat build kinda thing for bass fishing.

its a great read and love it. I would like to see all of the above some great ideas, there are a lot of every day anglers taking up bream fishing and maybe a detailed wrap up of the top 20 bream hard bodies and soft plastics - who uses them and how. as mentioned a wrap up of a typical comp from start to finish would be great how they went about it and why. great mag. I would also love to be able to read it online. cheers.

A shame this was not an inclusion I think it would do exactly what Mike highlighted encorage more females to take up the sport. Results speak for themselves and with anglers such as Elaine Sanderson in top 10 Barra, Tracey Mammen 5 non boater 2nd Classic rankings and then Vicki Winter Lear winning this years Bets whilst they are a minority female anglers they are doing well in a male dominated sport.
