Does anybody have any ideas on how to down grade a drag??
IE:from say 10kgs to 4-5kgs,I am talking shimano 2500 size or can you get hold of
spools with lighter drags to suit???

I am aware of a spacer you can get for that sized daiwas that essentially makes the drag in the spool act as if it was a shallow spool. IIRC it is a small brass dish like piece that takes the place of 2of the 3 drag washers and allows you to run a single washer.
Bear in mind though that this will only change you maximum drag setting not the increments by which your drag is adjusted. If that makes sense.

If you run carbon drags it will allow you to run finer drag pressure as they run smoother. You could also apply more grease to the washers allowing more slip on them but i personally wouldnt do that on the off chance you need to lock it up a bit more because of some structure.

Perhaps drag washers with a oversized inner bore or undersized outer diameter.
