Fishing tackle, Hong Kong

Post by Dodgyback » Tue Jul 14, 2009 6:49 pm

My Wifey is passing through Hong Kong on the way back from Italy ,so she promised to buy me a treat, I did ask for an Asian girl to give me a back rub  as no answer was recieved I guess I should think Fishing tackle.

Questions are
1 ., are there any tackle shops in Hong Kong ?
2 do they sell good stuff or just full of rubbish ?
3 is it possible to get tackle duty free ?

Cheers

Mick

Mick,

Better still get the good wife to pick you up a few of those Asian "relaxation" masseuses and many will pay to visit you. Then you can fill all your "big tackle" requirements right at home?

G'Day Mick,

My mate has just returned & was wrapped with the price & quality. He said there was a huge choice and due to the financial downturn they were taking low offers.

I dont think he got it duty free but he reckons he did get an extra 15 minutes for free.

By the way we are going to France not Italy....

Hi Mick

You can get some great tackle in Hong Kong - I got a 4000 Certate there and a couple of Caldia Kix reels. All reels are still going strong.

I forget what the name of the fishing store is but there is one business which has mutliple stores. I went to the one on Hong Kong Island.

I'm sure google will help you locate something.

There is really only one tackle shop in Hong Kong. Go speak to Virgil Lau at Po Kee. I buy all of my equipment from him. I live in Hong Kong and troll for palegics offshore using TLD25 to Penn 80w gear - he also carries a range of smaller equipment.

If you need jigging, smaller inshore and freshwater equipment I'm sure there are plenty of other shops that can help you, I just don't know them as Po Kee has it all. And yes, Vergil does get out fishing with me ocassionally.
